Carlos Julián Villarreal Ávila busca afianzarse en selección nacional
Para el karateca Carlos Julián Villarreal Ávila, el continuar formando parte de la selección nacional seguirá siendo un reto, representar a Baja California Sur y a México un orgullo, en busca de triunfos importantes en el plano internacional, como sucedió este domingo en los Juegos Panamericanos de Santiago de Chile, donde conquistó el subcampeonato en la división de -75 kilogramos.
Para Villarreal Ávila, atleta que radica en el municipio de Los Cabos, representa mucho esfuerzo por todo el sacrificio que tuvo que hacer durante años para llegar la justa continental, pero ahora se disfruta con la medalla de plata que logró en sus primeros juegos panamericanos, sobre todo en una final tan reñida que se definió en el último segundo contra el competidor de los Estados Unidos, con el que había empatado en la ronda de clasificación.
Villarreal Ávila manifestó que antes de retomar los entrenamientos disfrutará de un breve descanso, para luego iniciar el nuevo ciclo pensando en representar a México en el panamericano de kárate y en los siguientes Juegos Centroamericanos, series mundiales, hasta llegar de nuevo a los Juegos Panamericanos y darle la medalla de oro a México.
Antes de los panamericanos de Chile, Carlos Villarreal representó al país en los Juegos Centroamericanos y El Caribe en San Salvador, donde igualmente conquistó la medalla de plata, de tal manera que tiene esa espina clavada por no poder llegar al parte principal del podio y entonar el Himno Nacional Mexicano, por eso, se ha fijado como un reto a cumplir para sus próximos compromisos.
Villarreal Ávila unió su nombre al de Andrés Ramírez Gutiérrez, quien fue subcampeón panamericano en los juegos celebrados en Guadalajara 2011.
